Bible Journaling for beginners

I love my quiet time, there is just something special about reading the Word of God. It is reading and experiencing what God wants to tell you.

You don’t have to be “creative” to start Bible journaling. Journaling is not about being creative or artistic. Journaling can be messy. It is simply an expression of worship, connection towards a perfect and holy God. It is about building and strengthening your relationship with God.

Journaling for me is about :

  • Keeping me focused on what I am reading.
  • Journaling the Word of God helps me to meditate and understand the book, topic, scripture, phrases I am reading.
  • Journaling is a flow from the mind to the hand, through this flow gives you the opportunity to be creative.
  • Journaling is all about giving thanks to God.
  • Journaling is about documenting my walk with God.
  • Bible journaling is an act of worship, while working on the designs, mull over the scriptures and what it means to me.
  • Pray the scriptures as you journal. When I pray God’s words back to him, you will be surprised how you remember portions of the scripture and how you can remember certain sections when the need arise.

Write down the reasons why journaling would be perfect for you?

How to get inspired – what to draw and write?

How to get bible journaling inspiration

When reading a chapter make a list of the key verses and phrases that has impacted the decisions you have made in your life. It is all personal preference, I usually choose to draw phrases that are foundational to my life. When you are not entirely sure you can journal God’s promises to us.

When you are not sure what you want to journal, look at your scriptures, circle words, draw lines and arrows, highlight sections and be yourself. You will be surprised to see what happens when you go with the process.

Journal sermon notes that you have written down.

Journal prayers, devotional thoughts that you have about a certain topic or book.

How to journal?

How to bible journal a few diy will be coming your way

Begin, there is various how to guides that will show you how to draw, in the coming months I’ll be sharing a few here in creativecue with you.

A tip that I can give is that if you are not entirely at ease with the process of journaling directly into your Bible, draw on paper and trace your design into your Bible.

So you made a mistake?

Don’t let the fear of making a mistake hold you back. Work around your mistakes, I do it all the time. Don’t think about perfection when you journal, embrace your mistakes, and on the other side embrace your talents.
