How to Banish Negative Thinking from your Thoughts
Here’s five ways in How to Banish Negative Thinking in your thoughts. The quality of your thoughts work through into your lives and do have an effect on your happiness. Your thoughts will shape your actions. I’m not a guru on the subject matter, yet these snippets have helped me numerous times when negativity wanted to take me over.
Let Go of Anger
Let go of anger. Anger has a way of manifesting itself into bitterness. This anger can consume us in that it becomes the only “thing” we can think of. This bitterness turns into negativity and is very counter productive. An example can be when somebody cuts you off in traffic, let it go, the root of anger is mostly about unmet expectations. Not everybody “drives like we” do, except that and move on. If it is bigger issues, what is making you angry and bitter, look at ways in how to deal with the situation and if and when you need help ask a friend or family member you trust to help you. Sometimes they have a different view on a subject matter and your issues might not be as big as you think they are.
Surround Yourself with Positivity
Surround yourself with all things positive, yes and that includes people. This is an old age mantra / advice that most people would give you. This is true. If you are going to surround yourself with the doom sayers, your outlook would be very, very gloomy. Everything will be negative, the sun would be black, the clouds would be angry, the puddles would be dams. When you surround yourself with friends who uplift, inspire, make you dream, you would just have this extra lift in your step and the world is your oyster, nothing is too hard and unachievable. You will definitely smile more.
Get Clarity When in Doubt
I don’t read minds. I usually tell the kids and hubby this. The reason being, I can’t think for everybody else, everybody is different and have different ideas about situations and how they would react to something if that something happens to them. This could have a two pronged edge to it, one of my kids bottles everything up and in the end your mind is all over the place thinking what did you do wrong, what did he do now and at the end of the day it could be just an ingrown toe nail that needs fixing. Ask and get clarity when in doubt.
De-clutter Your mind
De-clutter your mind. Take a breather, take some time off from the world. When your senses are constantly bombarded with negative images, thoughts, sounds it’s time to mentally detox, cut yourself off from all the negativity surrounding you and start focussing on the things that matter. Take responsibility for your mind. Introduce positivity into your life, take a walk, feel and experience nature, let go of negative images that bombard you via TV, the internet, social media. Define and focus what is important to you.
Don’t do Nothing
Don’t do nothing. That says it all. When we sit around and mope and do nothing, our minds are filled with negativity, the what if’s, the should have’s, the maybe’s, all filled with gloom and doom. There’s no space for anything beautiful. So get off the butts and experience the world, even if it is to go for a walk experience beauty, it brings forth a purpose and a new way to feel things.
