The gift of presence
Have you ever been in a conversation where either you know you have been talking to a wall, or you could have been the wall. Neither emotions feel good at the end of the day. It comes back to how we value ourselves and others.
My daughter wants my total attention when she talks to me, and likewise I want the same. Sometimes I love the rules we make in our home and one of them are that no communication devices at the dinner table. It is one of the biggest blessings ever. It’s these times when we really listen and engage that we connect and feel wonderful and different.
It’s the same connection we want from each other as adults, we want the gift of being present.
Sometimes life requires a few unwritten rules, when a friend comes to visit, put the phones away, make a beautiful cup of tea and connect, ask about the children, work, life in general. Have a conversation be present.
Relationships is what sustains us, when you do meet a friend and have a conversation, give the gift of presence.
A thought to carry you today – a gift of presence.
Take care – Debbera xoxo
